Ghana Anglo Gold Ashanti has produced its first gold after four years of limited operations. Hence, Obuasi mines will enter the second phase of development this year, where the construction of new infrastructure and further works on the processing plant and underground will be carried out.
The last four years saw the country’s flagship mine, which had been in operation for more centuries, placed under maintenance in the phase of it long held potential to upgrade local economy.
About five hundred and fifty (550) people in Ghana and beyond have so far been employed by Anglo Gold Ashanti, bringing the total number of Contractors and Employers to three thousand, five hundred as at January this year (2020).
“The commemoration of the first gold pour is a significant achievement for the company, Obuasi, the community around the mine and Ghana in general.” Mr. Kelvin Dushunisky, Chief Executive Officer of Anglo Gold elaborated.
